HeadFunction Description
I am leading the Laboratory for Perceptual Dynamics at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute (BSI). The Laboratory runs in its initial five-year period (April, 2001-2006). It consists on average of 15 academic and technical staff. The lab is equipped with 256 and 64 channel EEG systems, two eye-trackers, and (soon) one NIRS optical imaging system. Its focus is to investigate the complex dynamics of visual information processing, combining experimental measurement and mathematical modeling. For the time the lab is in existence I am on leave from my position at Sunderland University. During the leave I maintain an advisory role in my home university and collaborate on research projects with members of the Psychology Department. Further responsibilities include: Editor of Philosophical Psychology, jointly with Prof. W. F. Bechtel (UCSD) and Associate Editor of Cognitive Processing; representing the journal for the Asian/Pacific region.
